ICEG and OICE strengthen international cooperation between Ukraine and Italy

On June 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Carlo Bonomi, President of Confidustria Italia, the General Confederation of Italian Industry. The parties discussed prospects of increasing the presence of the Italian business and its involvement in Ukraine recovery. Meetings with the Italian delegation were also reported by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Simultaneously, strengthening the cooperation with the Italian business and engineering companies became the subject of an online conference between the Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild and Association of Italian Engineering, Architectural and Technical-Economic Consulting Organizations (OICE), which is a member of Confidustria Italia.

Established in 1965, due to constant growth in the number of members, OICE now unites all large Italian engineering companies and most of qualified small and medium firms in the industry.

During the conference with ICEG management, Roberto Carpaneto, OICE Vice President, noted that in view of the Italian government and European community policy and the above mentioned visit of Italian business representatives to Ukraine, OICE is ready to develop international collaboration at the level of our organizations that represent interests of the engineering consulting communities in both countries. He also suggested considering the situation in Ukraine, which is very tough indeed, as a chance and opportunity to implement new approaches and technologies, state-of-the-art solutions, materials, and projects.

Oleksandr Nepomnyashchyy, ICEG President, outlines possible sectors of collaboration linked to improving the methods of surveying the facilities damaged and destroyed by the war on the basis of international experience in eliminating the consequences of disasters, practical interaction in technical assessment of such facilities, and prospective cooperation during the postwar rehabilitation of Ukraine.

At the end of the meeting, the participants agreed to launch regular business contacts and sign a Memorandum of Understanding between ICEG and OICE.

The draft Memorandum and a roadmap to organize the cooperation will be arranged by Dr. Marco Ragusa, Head of OICE International Department, and Svitlana Reva, ICEG Vice President for International Affairs
