The global infrastructure community is discussing quality of projects, financing, digital transformation, procurement, contracts, and professional capacity of the market<\/strong><\/p>\n

New Delhi is hosting the FIDIC Global Infrastructure Conference 2026, the flagship annual international event of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers.<\/p>\n

The conference program runs from 13 to 15 September and brings together representatives of public contracting authorities, governments, engineering consultancies and construction companies, financial institutions, international organizations, and experts from various countries.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s GIC topic is Engineering a Bright Future Together: Quality Infrastructure for People and Prosperity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The international discussion is focused on the issues that are currently determining the countries\u2019 ability to plan and deliver complex infrastructure, including attracting the funding, quality and sustainability of projects, procurement of professional services, contract models, digital transformation, institutional capacity, and training of specialists.<\/p>\n

Ukraine is participating in the global conference as a country represented in FIDIC by a national member association \u2014 the Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild (ICEG).<\/p>\n

One of the first important events in New Delhi was the election of the new FIDIC President-Elect<\/strong>. At the General Assembly Meeting on September 13, the national member associations unanimously supported the candidacy of Vice President Adam Bialachowski for the position of FIDIC President. Thus, he has become the FIDIC President-Elect.<\/p>\n

For the Ukrainian professional community, this decision has particular significance. Mr. Bialachowski is the CEO of B-Act<\/strong>, an international engineering consulting company operating in Central and Eastern Europe with offices in Bydgoszcz, Warsaw and Kyiv. B-Act is also a member of the Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild.<\/p>\n

Mr. Bialachowski specializes in business, project and contract management, procurement, claims handling, and construction investment implementation. He joined the FIDIC Board in 2023 and currently serves as the Federation\u2019s Treasurer. He will take over the presidency from the current FIDIC President, Alfredo Ingletti, at the next FIDIC GAM in October 2027.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the main GIC26 agenda is focused on the global challenges the infrastructure sector is facing. One of the pivotal topics is the shortage of infrastructure financing and search for models that enable to turn the needs of countries and communities into investment-ready projects.<\/p>\n

The Conference attendees are discussing the role of development banks, interaction between clients, consultants, contractors and financial institutions, and the conditions needed to form a portfolio of infrastructure projects prepared to high quality.<\/p>\n

A separate section is devoted to digital transformation. Artificial intelligence, digital twins, and data processing are being considered across the entire infrastructure lifecycle, from preparation and design to construction and operation.<\/p>\n

An important topic at GIC26 is also the quality of professional services procurement. FIDIC is raising the question of how approaches to the selection and remuneration of engineering consulting services affect the quality, safety, sustainability and long-term value of infrastructure. As part of the conference, it is planned to present a new study on the Qualifications-Based Selection (QBS), which is selection of consultants on the basis of their professional qualifications and capabilities.<\/p>\n

Separate professional discussions are devoted to the practice of applying FIDIC contracts in different countries, formation of investment-ready infrastructure programs, and development of institutional and staff capacity for the delivery of complex projects.<\/p>\n

For Ukraine, these issues take on particular significance. The scale of reconstruction means a simultaneous increase in the number, value and complexity of infrastructure projects. Alongside international financing, requirements for their preparation, procurement, contracting, risk management, and professional capacity of market participants are also growing.<\/p>\n

That is why ICEG\u2019s participation in the global FIDIC conference is an opportunity not only to be part of the international professional discussion, but also to study the approaches and practices directly that are determining the implementation of major infrastructure projects around the world.<\/p>\n
