The European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (<\/span>EFCA<\/span><\/b><\/a>), comprising of national associations from 28 countries, is the sole <\/span>European federation representing the business interests of professional engineering consultancy and related services<\/span>,<\/span> a sector that employs around one million staff in Europe. EFCA represents the International Association of Consulting Engineers <\/span>(<\/span>FIDIC<\/span><\/b><\/a>)<\/span> in Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ukraine is the sole Post-Soviet country that with the help of the Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild is represented in this credible European organisation.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are pleased to present you the EFCA Booklet on its vision as to further development of information digital modelling in construction.<\/span><\/p>\n

Building information modelling (BIM) is a digital information management approach. It means a more efficient use of resources, more effective communications and therefore collaboration within the partnership, greater flexibility and improved long-term planning. The recent publication of ISO 19650 , an international quality standard governing the organisation and digitisation of information about buildings and civil engineering works helps the client, project manager and contractor to agree on things, develop a shared understanding and exchange data more easily. The standard will help roll out BIM across the industry and bring stakeholders together within a project. Besides making the construction sector more competitive, BIM is driving innovation and sustainable growth and is a tool to deliver improved infrastructure quality.<\/p>\n

It is therefore timely for the European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (EFCA) to provide guidance to its members for introducing the ISO 19650 standard and highlighting its far-reaching benefits.<\/p>\n

For engineers, BIM under the ISO 19650 concepts represents unprecedented opportunities for improving their added value during the construction process.<\/p>\n

EFCA believes it is of value to get a better grasp on the new ways of working together and adopt a more digital approach, thereby speaking the same language.<\/p>\n
