SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE SCHOOL

Risk management as a research area, which reflects many changes affecting the content and character of public policy of developed democracies, has received quite deep development in recent years in a number of countries and is in demand in solving current political, economic, and social problems. The development of effective institutions of government, society and business in Ukraine is impossible without a deep scientific justification and practical application of new models of formation of public policy of risk management in production processes and social relations, which are concentrated in the sphere of activity of state institutions, public and private individuals.

The construction and operation of real estate throughout the entire life cycle (from the investment concept, including design, construction, operation, repair, reconstruction – to the demolition and disposal of materials and waste) is a clear example for the development, approval and implementation of risk management models. That is why the activities of the Scientific School for in-depth study, maximum preservation and multiplication of existing achievements and developments in the relevant direction, as well as comprehensive development of this topic in domestic science, acquire great applied importance.

The basis of the school is a powerful team of fellow thinkers, formed during the joint solution of theoretical and practical tasks of risk management in production processes and social relations during the construction and operation of real estate objects, which includes well-known scientists, experts-practitioners with significant experience in management positions in central bodies of executive power, local state administrations, local self-government bodies and in production. Among our ranks are the initiators of the transition of the construction industry to a market management model, the founders of the theory and practice of reforming urban planning activities, theoreticians of ensuring energy efficiency, earthquake resistance, strength, and reliability of buildings and structures. A cohort of young people (graduate students) is involved in the school to maintain the continuity and development of the achievements of the older generation of scientists.

Over the past 5 years, the school’s participants have developed a number of serious scientific projects and research programs in current scientific areas, made a significant contribution to the development and implementation of international and state programs, including international educational projects on ecology and environmental protection, national and regional reform programs and development of construction, housing and communal services, beautification, household waste management, energy efficiency and communal energy, a number of objects of intellectual property rights were created, trainings, seminars and other scientific and educational events were provided. Scientific guidance and consulting on the preparation of candidate and doctoral theses is carried out.

The participants of the school have experience in international activities, in particular in its composition: a member of the Bureau of the UNECE Committee on Housing Construction and Land Use (2011-2014), an expert on conducting a national review of the housing sector in Ukraine (2010-2014), the founder of the construction of contract law as an educational discipline in the Czech Republic and the founder of the corresponding direction at the Faculty of Law in Prague, the author of FIDIC contract implementation methods and others.

Over the past 5 years, 8 Doctors of Science and 26 Candidates of Science (PhD) have been trained by school participants. 34 monographs, 19 textbooks, 33 training manuals, about 350 scientific papers in the scientific direction in leading international and domestic specialized publications, 35 research papers in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection have been published. Participation in almost 200 international and domestic conferences, as a result of which abstracts of reports were published.
