Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, German Association of Consulting Engineers (VBI) was one of the first colleagues of the Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild, who at the very beginning of the aggression in Ukraine expressed their unwavering support and willingness to share knowledge and experience with Ukrainian engineers.
Last week VBI held the Federal Congress 2023 in Weimar, Germany. The event focused on digitization, construction standards, challenges of the digital revolution. A separate panel was dedicated to the international block, during which in particular Ines Ferguson, EFCA President, and Jeffrey Seeck, EFCA Future Trends Committee Chair, talked about the opportunities available for German engineering companies in international markets.
Oleksandr Nepomnyashchyy, ICEG President, joined the discussion via a videocall to speak about the status quo and requirements for the reconstruction of Ukraine. He also highlighted modern challenges, trends and opportunities from the perspective of country’s engineering consultancy community.
Sasha Steuer, Head of VBI, noted the high interest of German companies in future reconstruction and the willingness of the association to work on these processes in tandem with ICEG.
For reference: VBI, founded in 1903, represents the interests of independent consulting engineers and architects in Germany and unites 1,600 engineering, consulting and architectural companies with a total staff of more than 48,000 people.
ICEG signed an MoU with VBI in 2017 during the visit of the German association to Kyiv.
