FIDIC Recognizes Ukraine’s Progress in Developing Engineering Consulting Capacity

September 4, 2026

Ukrainian infrastructure projects, achievements of young engineers, collaboration between ICEG and KNUCA, and professional development initiatives enter the international FIDIC spotlight.

The International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) has published a dedicated feature in its international Member News about the achievements of its Ukrainian member association — the Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild (ICEG).

The publication “Ukraine builds engineering capacity through recognition, education and outreach” focuses on developing professional engineering consulting capacity in Ukraine and highlights several priority areas currently pursued by ICEG.

Among them is the participation of Ukrainian engineers in restoring critical infrastructure following the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Station. FIDIC reports on the construction of the major water pipeline Khortytsya–Tomakivka–Marhanets and commends Oleksii Sokhatskyi from Vasenov Engineering, nominated by ICEG, who won first place in the Contribution to Society category at the EFCA Future Leaders Competition 2026. The publication also features Olena Sereda from B-Act and her work on the pipeline project from the Southern Bug to Mykolaiv.

Another key area highlighted is the training of the next generation of specialists. FIDIC covered ICEG’s collaboration with Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture and the establishment of the Smart Contract Hub KNUCA. The joint laboratory is designed to align university education with current infrastructure project implementation practices — particularly in pricing, contract administration, and project management.

The international publication also includes ICEG’s communication efforts to build a better understanding of the consulting engineer’s role among Ukrainian clients and communities, as well as knowledge exchange with other FIDIC national associations.

For ICEG, the appearance of this feature on FIDIC’s international platform represents an important professional recognition. Ukrainian projects, professionals, and initiatives become visible to the international engineering community, and the experience being developed under reconstruction conditions becomes part of a broader professional exchange.

At the same time, this represents another step forward in ensuring that the Ukrainian engineering market is represented in the international arena not only as a recipient of experience and assistance, but through its own specialists, projects, and practices that Ukraine is already able to share with the world.
