The Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild (ICEG) has acquired the status of National Member Association of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) representing Ukraine.

According to the official FIDIC website, ICEG is designated as the sole representative from Ukraine in the list of national member associations of the Federation.

Introducing the new Ukrainian member to the international professional community, the official FIDIC resource stated, “ICEG is an independent professional association of consulting engineers based in Kyiv that represents the interests of consulting engineers in Ukraine’s construction sector. Its goal is to align the Ukrainian market of engineering consulting services with international standards, in particular FIDIC standards, and to create an expert community to support the country’s recovery. We welcome ICEG to the FIDIC family!”

Acquiring the status of the National Member Association of FIDIC opens a new stage in ICEG’s international activities and strengthens the representation of the Ukrainian engineering consulting community in the global professional environment.

This new stage of interaction between ICEG and the Federation was one of the topics discussed at a meeting between ICEG President Oleksandr Nepomnyashchyy and ICEG President’s Advisor Yurii Sereda with the FIDIC leadership during the Global Infrastructure Conference 2026 in New Delhi. The meeting was attended by FIDIC President Alfredo Ingletti, FIDIC Vice President and President-Elect Adam Białachowski, and FIDIC CEO Susanna Zammataro.

The parties discussed further cooperation between FIDIC and its Ukrainian member association, ICEG’s participation in the Federation’s international professional network, and areas where FIDIC’s experience and professional tools can be applied more widely in Ukraine’s reconstruction processes. The discussion also covered the professional capacity building, modern approaches to the preparation and implementation of infrastructure projects, and broader involvement of Ukrainian specialists in international professional exchange.

Dr. Nepomnyashchyy presented his vision for the further work of ICEG as a FIDIC member association. The bilateral professional exchange should be one of its focus areas, e.g. using international experience to develop the Ukrainian market of engineering consulting services and presenting to the global professional community the practical experience that Ukraine is gaining in the context of large-scale reconstruction.

FIDIC, the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, was founded in 1913. Today the Federation represents more than one million engineering professionals and 40,000 companies in about 100 countries worldwide. FIDIC develops international standard contract forms, as well as professional documents and guidelines in the fields of quality and risk management, integrity, sustainable development, procurement, consultant selection, and professional capacity building.

FIDIC contract forms and professional approaches are widely used in the delivery of complex infrastructure projects and form a common professional language for clients, consultants, contractors, and other participants of the international infrastructure market.

For Ukraine, this is of particular importance in the context of large-scale reconstruction. Billions of dollars of investment in infrastructure recovery require clear rules for project implementation, professional management, proper allocation of responsibility, risk management, and competencies that enjoy the trust of international partners.

The status of a FIDIC member association expands the opportunities for the Ukrainian professional community to contribute to the work of the Federation’s global network, its professional and training programs, international experience sharing, and further adaptation of international practices to Ukrainian conditions.

For ICEG, this status means both international recognition and additional responsibility. One of the Guild’s key tasks remains developing a modern market of engineering consulting services in Ukraine, raising the professional standards, training of a new generation of specialists, and dissemination of international approaches to the management of infrastructure projects.

This work takes on a particular importance today, when Ukraine is simultaneously restoring what has been destroyed, modernizing its infrastructure, and gradually integrating into the European economic and professional space.

Ukraine’s reconstruction needs modern rules, a strong professional community, and the trust of international partners. Our task is to ensure that FIDIC’s international experience works in Ukraine, and the experience of Ukrainian engineers is presented and noted in the global professional community,” said ICEG President Oleksandr Nepomnyashchyy.

ICEG plans to foster the cooperation with FIDIC in the fields of professional training and capacity building, dissemination of modern contractual and managerial practices, promotion of young professionals, and participation of Ukrainian experts in the activities of the global community of consulting engineers.

A separate area will be the wider application in Ukraine of international approaches to the infrastructure project implementation and development of a professional environment capable of ensuring their quality preparation and delivery.

For Ukraine, presence in FIDIC is another bridge between the Ukrainian recovery and international system of professional standards, expertise, and practices. It is an opportunity For ICEG to use this connection in both directions: to bring the global experience to Ukraine and to present to the international professional community the experience that Ukrainian engineers are gaining today under the unique conditions of the country’s recontruction during wartime.
