Postwar reconstruction plans beginning to take shape

July 6, 2022

In Lugano, Switzerland, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal presented the Ukraine Recovery Plan designed for 10 years and totaling to USD 750 billion. The Plan was also presented in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The Plan is based on 5 Core Guiding Principles:

  • Start now and ramp up gradually;
  • Grow prosperity in equitable way;
  • Integration in EU;
  • Build back better at national and regional scales;
  • Enable private investments.

The Plan covers 17 national programs, the largest is “Recovery and upgrade of housing and regions infrastructure” totaling to USD 150-250 billion. “Logistics de-bottleneck and integration with EU” will cost USD 120-160 billion. The third most expensive program is “Energy independence and Green Deal” – USD 130 billion.

Such mass-scale plans open new perspectives for the national business to develop and simultaneously, are challenging for Ukrainian companies. First of all, we have to enhance competitiveness of our enterprises and organizations because Ukraine will be the largest construction site in the world and is in the spotlight of leading construction, design, and engineering companies.
