RAPID DAMAGE AND NEEDS ASSESSMENT

September 11, 2022

The Government of Ukraine, the World Bank Group, and European Commission, jointly with partners, have launched the Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA). In compliance with a technique approved internationally, RDNA was aimed at assessing impact of the war on the population, human development, service provision, physical assets, infrastructure, production sectors, and economy. This assessment covered, verified to a most possible extent, and estimated the damage inflicted by the war from February 24 to June 1, 2022. RDNA deliverables are provisional, and the given numbers of the inflicted damage, losses and recovery needs should be viewed as minimal. As the war continues, its social and economic aftermath will be growing worse and rising. Yet, reconstruction and recovery should be started as early as now where it is safe and practicable.
