May 16, 2022

Sarajevo is the biggest city and capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 30 years ago the city was ruined after four years of bombardments and siege.

Dr. Tarik Kupusović, professor, director of HEIS Institute, was mayor of Sarajevo in 1994-1996, right in the second period of war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He shared his experience of city reconstruction in a meeting between ICEG specialists and representatives of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Bosnia and Herzegovina UKI/ACE BiH.

Hasan Mahmutagić, general director of IPSA Institute, told about the project he managed – reconstruction of the country’s longest bridge across the Sava River that connects Bosnia and Herzegovina with Croatia.

Dr. Ešref Gačanin, president of UKI/ACE BiH, said that his country has kept and is ready to share the documentation related to arranging the territory recovery work with examples of cooperation between local entities and western partners within projects supported by international financial institutions and European community. He advised encouraging Ukrainian builders to enhance their institutional capacity as early as now in order to compete decently with western companies in international calls for tenders for reconstruction of facilities.
