This flagship project by the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories is implemented as part of the “Without Barriers” initiative by First Lady Olena Zelenska and covers 18 pilot communities where barrier-free routes are launched. As of today, these are cities of Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Ternopil, Lviv, Rivne, Chernivtsi, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Slavutych, Kropyvnytskyi, Bucha and townships of Opishnia and Borodianka.
“Drawing the line between comfort and safety, or generally speaking between wish and necessity, is not an easy task and its delivery is often accompanied by hot debates. I am confident that if professionals are involved who have experience in ensuring the barrier-free requirements are fulfilled at the level of facilities, such problem will have a competent solution at each section of barrier-free routes,” commented ICEG President Oleksandr Nepomnyashchyy.
