The Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine has announced  the results of two meetings of the Expert Task Force for implementation of joint projects with the European Investment Bank under the Ukraine Recovery III program (tranche B), which is led by Oleksii Riabykin, Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.

After reviewing the proposals, 9 new projects were recommended for implementation, which are aimed at restoring and improving social infrastructure, making barrier-free environment, and strengthening resilience of communities.

At the previous meeting, they also approved 9 projects totaling to UAH 1.1 billion budget. Thus, after three meetings, the Expert Task Force has selected 18 projects in the framework of Ukraine Recovery III (tranche B).

“Supporting the communities remains our priority, especially those near the frontline, which need prompt recovery of critical facilities,” Mr. Riabykin said.

The Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild welcomes these decisions and notes that their delivery will require quality engineering, professional project management, and transparent procedures. ICEG continues supporting the introduction of international standards and development of interaction with donors in recovery projects and is ready to contribute its expertise to the initiatives in collaboration with communities and partners.

The program is being fulfilled by the Ukrainian Government together with the European Investment Bank. Its budget is EUR 100 million, and the funds are targeted at reconstruction, modernization, and creation of safe conditions for community residents.

At the same time, ICEG’s experts point out that terminology should be used carefully. By the projects’ essence, they are about the accessibility requirement which is only one of many components of barrier-free environment.
