Bridge destroyed by war rebuilt in Kyiv region with the UK help

January 20, 2026

In Kyiv region, they have finished restoring the bridge that was destroyed in February 2022 during the Russian invasion. The rebuilt facility was visited by Aliona Shkrum, First Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, and Sir Chris Bryant, Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade of the United Kingdom.

For a few years, the destroyed bridge made life more complicated to the locals as they had to spend more time to detour and had a limited access to work, healthcare and education services. Today, the bridge is operational again. A secure connection between settlements and regular rhythm of life in the region has been restored.

The reconstruction was made possible owing to the support from the UK and joint effort of Ukrainian and foreign specialists. The project made use of the British steel, state-of-the-art materials, and engineering solutions that meet the current requirements for reliability and safety. The restored bridge became part of the pilot project covering reconstruction of six bridges in Kyiv region.

The project funding was provided by the UK Export Finance, which demonstrates that international fiscal tools can work effectively even in the wartime, allowing prompt restoration of critical infrastructure.

This bridge is not merely a structure from steel and concrete. It embodies a restored connection between communities, a path for life, security, and development, and a proof that engineering solutions and international solidarity are able to bring normal life and hope back to people.

The Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild salutes a successful delivery of this project and extends gratitude to engineers, designers, and builders whose daily professional routine makes the reconstruction possible. We are convinced that it is professionalism, good planning, and collaboration with international partners that is the foundation for Ukraine’s recovery.

Ukraine is being rebuilt as early as today, step by step, bridge by bridge, for the people, together with our partners, and for the sake of future generations.
