The Board of Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild held an online meeting with representatives of ISO/TC 292 Working Group 10 (Helsinki, Finland): Pertti Woitsch, WG Chair and CEO of Woitsch Consulting Oy, a consulting company in defence and security sector, and Janne Kalli, WG Secretary and Leading Technical Adviser at Finnish Standards Association.

Iryna Lahunova, PhD in Public Administration, Docent, Deputy Chair of the Managing Board at the National Standardization Body (Ukraine), member of the working group drafting amendments to state building norms as applicable to civil protection from mass destruction weapons during new construction and reconstruction, also joined the discussion.

During the meeting Pertti Woitsch elaborated on the main principles of existing civil protection system in Finland and practice in protective shelter construction. Janne Kalli spoke up about the body of the draft and progress of work.

The Working Group was created in September 2021. Finland, Sweden, Norway, Japan, France are the most active contributors to NP 22359 “Hardened protective shelters – Guidelines”. Its publication is expected early in 2024 the latest after mirror assessment and public enquiry stage.

The participants discussed opportunities for cooperation and participation of the Ukrainian party in Working Group 10 “Preparedness” upon the invitation form the international partners.
