In May 2023 Public Union “Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild” and the All-Ukrainian Association of Local Self-Government Bodies “Ukrainian Association of District and Regional Councils” signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The objective under the MoU, among others, is interaction and coordination of activities to promote the attraction of investments by local self-government bodies to restore the socio-economic potential affected by the war; combining the potential of the parties for the implementation of the best international and domestic practices of local self-government bodies in construction, engineering, integrated management systems and quality management.

Also, the MoU defines as a separate area for cooperation promoting the minimization of corruption risks during the use of donor funds allocated for the restoration of infrastructure affected by the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine.

Joining efforts has become especially relevant in the context of the need to improve social relations and ensure sustainable development of territories during today’s operational and future post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Association of District and Regional Councils is all-Ukrainian voluntary association of local self-government bodies, which has 11 regional branches.

The Association coordinates the activities of local self-government bodies in solving issues that correspond to the interests of all or a significant number of territorial communities whose local councils are members of the Association, develops and submits to state authorities proposals for government support for the development of local self-government. Members of the Board of the Association are part of the boards of central executive bodies, and its representatives participate in the meetings held by the Committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Government Committees, and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
