According to the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, the next aid package for the reconstruction of Mykolaiv will exceed 21 million US dollars, in addition to the 100 million US dollars already allocated by Denmark in 2023.
“Denmark is one of our most loyal partners in the reconstruction process. In the spring of 2023, the country took patronage over Mykolaiv and the Mykolaiv region. Since then, we have already made progress in the reconstruction of the city — most of the projects of the previous aid packages have either already been completed, or they are progressing successfully,” Oleksandr Kubrakov notes.
The January aid package covers the following areas:
Cooperation between the countries in the above areas is carried out under the Memorandum of Understanding on the Partnership between Denmark, Mykolaiv city and Mykolaiv region, signed in March 2023.
Among the running projects are the purchase of special equipment, medical and fire-fighting equipment, emergency and restoration work in some areas of the thermal power plant, restoration of three blocks of the city, and construction of shelters in at least 9 schools.
The Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild maintains an active dialogue with its Danish colleagues in the engineering industry – the Danish Association of Consulting Engineers (FRI), Ramboll and COWI. Representatives of the latter are working directly on the project to restore Mykolaiv’s water supply and the Master Plan of the city.
