Energy will suffice with supply sources diversified and use efficiency enhanced

September 5, 2025

The construction industry has never disregarded the issue of broadening the scope of using the renewable energy and improving the energy efficiency of buildings.
It became critical to address this comprehensive problem during the military aggression against our state.
One of the ways to reduce the risk of energy crisis is modernization and decarbonization of district heating systems. More about the national plan on these issues can be found at the website of the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories.
Dr. Oleksandr Nepomnyashchyy, ICEG President, noted that “district heating is quite a conservative system, I have to confess it from my own experience. Introduction of diversified energy sources is not limited to installation of new equipment or connection to the existing power grids. Problems are arising whose solution requires a significant intellectual component, say, alternate or simultaneous use of different energy sources with a definite capacity and duration. Perhaps, at this stage it will be reasonable to study foreign and national practice of forming a system of hot water accumulators close to consumption facilities and using them in peak load periods. Anyway, actions to tackle this issue cannot be taken hastily but should be carefully weighed and possible to implement from both the technical point of view and financial viability.”
