Who is the consulting engineer? What is the role of engineering consultancy support of construction projects in reconstruction of this country? Why is it relevant for local self-government? These and other questions are touched upon in an op-ed by ICEG President Oleksandr Nepomnyashchyy on the Decentralization portal.

The engineering consultancy services are delivered by an economic operator that unites a team of professionals including certified specialists in the profession “Consulting Engineer (Construction)” that provide organizational and consulting support of the project implementation at all its stages from design to commissioning. Its main purpose is to assure quality, meet deadlines, and use resources in a rational manner.

“Consulting engineer is not luxury but a must-have for local self-government authorities striving to deliver quality and efficient construction projects. In present conditions, when the citizens are facing the task of restoring this country, the role of engineering consulting support of construction projects is difficult to overestimate,” Dr. Nepomnyashchyy noted.

Local self-government authorities should pay attention to the advantages brought about by cooperation with consulting engineers and introduce this practice in their activities. This is an investment in the European future of communities and the whole country.
