June 28, 2024

Twenty-three Spanish firms have shown interest in contributing to Ukraine’s reconstruction and recovery efforts. Among them are companies keen on cooperation in engineering, such as DT GLOBAL, TYPSA, FARADAY, CENTUNION, Escribano Mechanical & Engineering, PRODIEX, TRIA INGENIERÍA, Acciona Energy.

The business delegation was led by Carlos Cuerpo Caballero, Minister of Economy, Trade, and Business of the Kingdom of Spain. With the representatives of these companies, he visited Ukraine on June 26-27 to participate in the first meeting in six years of the Ukrainian-Spanish Intergovernmental Commission.

During the event, ICEG Vice Presidents Yurii Prav and Bakhtiyar Khodjaev conducted B2B meetings with Spanish entrepreneurs to foster bilateral business dialogue.

The Minister of Economy of Spain highlighted the significant potential for cooperation in the renewable energy sector, noting that Spain ranks among the top four EU countries in terms of renewable energy capacity.

He also emphasized several key areas: consulting and reconstruction in Ukraine, integration into the EU including legislative harmonization, cybersecurity and defense, air, rail, maritime, and land logistics, the healthcare sector including mobile hospitals, the agriculture sector, sustainable mobility – transportation systems and approaches that mitigate the negative impact of transport flows on the environment, and the IT sector.

Ambassador Sergiy Pogoreltsev assured that the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Spain is fully committed to supporting business initiatives and working systematically to expand the exchange of goods and services between the two countries.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yuliia Svyrydenko, expressed gratitude to the entire business community for their efforts under challenging conditions and emphasized readiness to simplify procedures for entrepreneurial activities. Among the initiatives Ukraine plans to develop is the establishment and launch of a Spanish Export Credit Agency to mitigate risks. Ukraine is actively progressing towards establishing its own export credit agency, with a legal framework already in place for this purpose.

ICEG expresses gratitude to the Embassy of Spain in Ukraine and Juan Antonio Obregón Sánchez, Head of the Commercial and Economic Office of the Embassy of Spain in Ukraine, as well as the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for organizing the event and their contribution to the development of business relations between Ukraine and Spain.
