Svitlana REVA, Vice President of the Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild, has been elected a member of the Council for Controlling the Restoration of Destroyed (Damaged) Buildings of the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Ohmatdyt” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Formation of the Restoration Council has been completed, with its member names approved by Orders the Ministry of Health No. 1415 of Aug. 9, 2024 and No. 1458 of Aug.19, 2024.
“I am responsible for developing ICEG’s international relations. Owing to the cooperation with such leading global organizations as EFCA that represents FIDIC in Europe, as well as DRBF, we are working on introducing best global practices in Ukraine. Our foreign partners are watching the reconstruction processes closely. Matters of transparent financing and rational use of donor’s resources are important to them just as they are to us, especially in the conditions of war,” Mrs. Reva emphasized.
First, the Restoration Council was joined by eight representatives of benefactors that made the biggest donations for recovery, international technical assistance projects, diplomatic missions of foreign countries in Ukraine, international and intergovernmental organizations and foundations, and one representative of the Health Ministry and one of the Ohmatdyt. Then these eight members voted to elect seven representatives of the civil society.
“ICEG’s participation in the Ohmatdyt Restoration Council will ensure transparency and abidance by the highest quality standards during the construction work. LIKA and ICEG have been cooperating fruitfully since June 2018, including disseminating the information and networking for the development of contacts and partnership, aiming to help Ukrainian companies adjust to European approaches and business practice. LIKA fully supports membership of the ICEG representative in this Council,” said Oskars Zivtiņš, Chairman of the Board, Latvian Association of Consulting Engineers (LIKA), who supported the candidacy of Svitlana Reva during the competitive formation of the Council.
As at today, the Council consists of 15 members:
At the first meeting on August 20, the Council’s leadership was elected, which included Inna Ivanenko, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, and Yevhenii Honchar.
The hospital’s modern building was damaged in the Russian missile attack on July 8, 2024. The therapeutic and diagnostic complex has close 900 m2 of damaged windows and doors, over 12,000 m2 of premises, and over 4,000 m2 of façade cladding. Only three of its blocks can be used, the other four need renovation work. By now, almost all departments of the Ohmatdyt resumed working except for the chronic hemodialysis unit. Its patients are being provided medical aid in Kyiv City Children’s Clinical Hospital No. 1. The rest of departments have been disseminated among the Ohmatdyt’s buildings that were not damaged or were partially damaged, in particular, premises of the damaged modern building are being used. That is why it is of paramount importance to complete the complex of works to ensure the hospital can be functioning in wintertime.
The Restoration Council is a consulting and advisory body of the Ministry of Health, which ensures involvement of the public and control of implementing the measures designed to restore the Ohmatdyt’s functioning.
