International Partners Helping Ukraine

February 19, 2024

Over the past week, more agreements were reached with international partners for assistance to recover Ukraine.

Czech Republic: the Ministry of Infrastructure representatives met with Tomáš Kopečný, the Governmental Envoy for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, and representatives of Czech business structures. They discussed projects to be implemented in Ukraine with the Czech government’s facilitation, including a permanent taskforce for recovery of Dnipropetrovsk Region. “We have a successful experience of cooperation with the Czech Republic, especially in the transport sector. Owing to the partners’ assistance, 21 bridges have been installed to replace those destroyed due to the Russian aggression,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, Vice Prime Minister for Recovery of Ukraine.

Germany: At the meeting with German delegation (Jochen Flasbarth, Thomas Bagger, Martin Jäger, and Ulrike Hopp-Nishanka), they talked over priorities for 2024 reconstruction. As prime focuses, they pointed out infrastructure investments as a basis for regional recovery, regional policy and reconstruction based on community leadership, as well as reforms for the reconstruction.

Oleksandr Kubrakov, Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, Vice Prime Minister for Recovery of Ukraine, noted that Ukraine is already preparing for Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 scheduled for June 11-12 in Berlin. “Our joint target is establishing and delivering real projects, particularly together with the German business entities,” said Mr. Kubrakov.

Japan: partners are providing assistance to Ukraine on a permanent basis, and recently, Japan has announced giving Ukraine 1800 gabions, protective structures for critical infrastructure facilities. The first batch has been delivered, and the handover has been attended by Oleksandra Azarkhina, Deputy Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, Kuninori Matsuda, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine, Satosi Sugimoto, Resident Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Ukraine.

As a reminder, ICEG also pursues active cooperation with international partners, including those from the above countries.

In 2017, we started working closely with VBI (German Association of Consulting Engineers) under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Kyiv.

Also, ICEG collaborates with CACE (Czech Association of Consulting Engineers) as part of MoU signed in 2017 in Jacarta.
