Japan to deliver equipment to Ukraine

October 12, 2024

Japan is preparing to deliver generators to Ukraine from October to the end of 2024. They are going to supply cogeneration turbines and gas cogeneration plants, especially meant for Kharkiv. They are also reviewing an option to send more large transformers to Ukraine.

“We are getting ready to supply generators, large power transformers, and other energy equipment. Namely, we are delivering small generators to municipalities in eight regions, including Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Poltava, Zhytomyr, and Kirovohrad regions, as well as to state-run energy companies,” said Matsuda Kuninori, Japan’s Ambassador to Ukraine.

The partners will also provide gabions, protective structures for such generators. They are especially effective in protecting from missile and drone debris falling down the facilities after those are shot down by air defense systems.

It is worth noting that in October, the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) was granted a line of credit from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for up to USD 150 million to support important projects in Ukraine and promote green initiatives.

In the framework of MoUs with international partners, ICEG has informed the companies that might be interested in providing the engineering services during project implementation and offered them guidance with legalization in Ukraine and during the recovery programs.
