On March 20, 2026, the Public Union “Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild” received on its premises a delegation from the Republic of Korea, consisting of representatives of the KOREAN INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AGENCY (KOICA), YOOSHIN ENGINEERING CORPORATION, KOREA TRANSPORT INSTITUTE, and KOREA NATIONAL RAILWAY

During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation opportunities within the project of the feasibility study (FS) preparation for the construction of the high-speed railway that will connect Ukraine with the European transport network. Ukrainian engineering companies which are members of ICEG may join the initiative as it is the combination of international expertise and capacities of local companies that makes implementation of international infrastructure projects successful.

The project worth USD 8 million is being fulfilled with the grant support from the Korean Government and includes preparation of the comprehensive feasibility study for the development of high-speed passenger and freight railway transport in Ukraine.

Last week, the Korean delegation also met with representatives of the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine to discuss practical aspects of the FS preparation and pivotal issues to be explored as part of the project.

The project opens new opportunities for the Ukrainian engineering consulting community, in particular, it encourages national experts to use international practices, introduce modern design and management standards, as well as promotes partnership with Korean organizations.

High-speed railway development is not only a timely initiative but also an important component of reconstruction and long-term development of Ukraine. The project will facilitate Ukraine’s integration in the European transport sector and growth of its economic potential.

ICEG has a decade-long partnership with the KOREA ENGINEERING & CONSULTING ASSOCIATION (KENCA) and YOOSHIN ENGINEERING CORPORATION company in the framework of signed Memoranda of Understanding, aimed at sharing the experience, fostering professional cooperation, and promoting best practices in the construction industry.
