As part of the European Union Association Agreement and striving to a full-fledged integration of Ukraine in the EU, the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine is reviewing whether it is now possible to implement the Eurocodes, the European regulatory framework for structural design.
Ukraine is currently using the first generation of the Eurocodes and national appendices thereto which were adopted and implemented in Ukraine in 2010-2013 as ДСТУ-Н and Amendment to ДСТУ-Н respectively. Application of the Eurocodes is regulated by the Cabinet of Ministers’ Decree No. 547 of 23.05.2011 “On approving the ‘Procedure of applying the building codes elaborated on the basis of national technical traditions and building codes harmonized with regulatory documents of the European Union” and also state building norms ДБН А.1.1-94:2010 “Design of structural construction by EN Eurocodes/ General rules.”
The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is planning to develop and publish the second generation of Eurocodes before March 30, 2026 (https://eurocodes.jrc.ec.europa.eu/) and cancel the valid first generation adopted in the EU in 2002-2007. A complete implementation of the second generation in the EU is scheduled for March 31, 2028.
In order to assess whether the Ukrainian engineering community is prepared for switching to structural design by the Eurocodes, we invite you to fill out a short questionnaire here.
