Rebuild Together: Cooperation between Poland and Ukraine in Action

From September 12 to 14, a range of events took place in Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia and Kyiv under the program “Polish-Ukrainian Cooperation and Prospects for the Reconstruction of Ukraine“, “Polish Service for the Reconstruction of Ukraine” and the Conference of the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers (Związek Przedsiębiorców i Pracodawców — ZPP) in Kyiv “Europe-Poland-Ukraine. Rebuild Together.”

The Polish side presented tools to support bilateral economic cooperation, the participants discussed the potential of such cooperation and held a round table on the topic “Polish Aid to Ukraine – Current Achievements and Future Challenges” within the framework of the CSS WEI project “A Friend in Need. Promoting Polish Aid to Ukraine at War” supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland as part of the Public Diplomacy 2023 competition.

The Polish company B-Act Spolka Akcyjna, a partner of the Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild, which has been implementing a number of infrastructure construction projects in Ukraine since 2017, attended the events.

One of its signature projects, where the company carries out technical supervision and engineering consulting services, is the construction of a border crossing over the Dniester River on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border in the area of Yampil – Koseuts settlements.

At the invitation of B-Act Board, members of the Polish delegation visited the construction site. The delegation included, in particular, Damian Tsiartsіnskі, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Vinnytsia, Marcin Chruściel, Head of the Office of the Government Commissioner for Polish-Ukrainian Development Cooperation, representatives of the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy of Poland, government institutions and Polish construction companies.

At the construction site, Yuriy Sereda, Director of the Ukrainian Representative office of B-Act Spolka Akcyjna, spoke about the achievements and challenges faced by foreign engineering companies in Ukraine, and specialists of the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure in Vinnytsia Oblast, B- Act Representative office and the contractor GROUP OF COMPANIES AVTOSTRADA introduced the delegates to the works and its features. And the very next day, a conference was held in Kyiv on the topic: “Speeding up Integration. Regional Economic Cooperation and European Prospects for Ukraine: How Poland and Europe Can Help”.

Representatives of the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy, the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine, the Polish Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers, the Warsaw Institute of Entrepreneurship, representatives of Polish and Ukrainian business discussed issues related to integration.

During the conference, Polish and Ukrainian business representatives had the opportunity to exchange views on the adoption of the best European experience in Ukraine. The participants of the event were able to discuss the current achievements and challenges of Polish aid to Ukraine.

The events resulted in determining a number of steps contributing to strengthening of further cooperation between the governmental institutions of Poland and Ukraine, as well as ensuring the access of Ukrainian goods to European markets and the participation of Polish companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
