The Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild took part in the webinar “Reconstruction of Ukraine’s Transport Infrastructure: Projects and Business Opportunities for Italian Companies” organized by the Italian Trade Agency with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The event was attended by numerous representatives of the diplomatic corps, Ukrainian authorities, international financial institutions, Italian design and construction companies, and professional associations.

In his welcome address, Carlo Formosa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to Ukraine, emphasized a severe damage Ukrainian facilities had suffered due to hostilities, especially road and railway networks, and importance of improving the infrastructure during the reconstruction, as well as competence and expertise of Italian companies in this area.

The webinar was moderated by Fabrizio Giustarini, Director of the Trade Promotion Office of the Italian Embassy.

ICEG adviser Andrii Rosynskyi presented the experience and practices of cooperation with foreign companies, including regulatory, technical, and organizational aspects.

Alfredo Ingletti, Vice President of OICE, the Italian Association of Engineering, Architectural and Technical-Economic Consulting Organizations, and President Elect of FIDIC, pointed out how the wartime collaboration between Italian engineering companies and their Ukrainian counterparts had grown stronger. “The role of engineers and architects is crucial as they come first in every project,” Mr. Ingletti stressed expressing his expectation that Italy would be contributing a lot to the reconstruction and be involved in future meetings to set up synergy beneficial to commence the work. He also noted that OICE and ICEG has signed a Memorandum of Understanding over 10 years ago.

Let us recap that Italian vector in ICEG’s international relations development is traditionally steady. Strengthening the cooperation with Italian businesses was discussed during online conferences and business meetings. As we reported for a few times, Italian companies are interested in Ukraine’s recovery.
