On December 5, the Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild held its annual meeting of members and partners dedicated to the tasks of construction engineering in the process of Ukraine recovery.
The participants summed up the thousand days of the war, discussed the specifics of the work and current challenges of the industry, outlined plans for reconstruction and measures to promote the good image of a consulting engineer in Ukraine.
The meeting was held in the circle of highly respected guests from both Kyiv and European cities.
During the powerful international bloc of the meeting, the foreign partners expressed their support and readiness to join efforts in the restoration of Ukraine.
In particular, Alfredo Ingletti, FIDIC President-Elect, admitted the importance of the efforts of the Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild in the development of the engineering consulting sector of Ukraine and confirmed the commitment of the international community to join efforts in overcoming the challenges facing Ukraine.
‘Engineers will need to be the forefront of that rebuilding and restoration effort and I know that our industry is ready to assist Ukraine by applying its skills and knowledge to getting the country back on its feet and fit for the future. Engineers are skilled in this area and will be able to help in the prioritisation of reconstruction efforts across critical infrastructure, while ensuring safety and sustainability’.
The next speaker, Adam Bialachowski, FIDIC Board Member, CEO of B-Act (Poland), expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people in his welcome address, and highlighted the critical importance of Ukrainian engineers, who continue to play a key role in shaping infrastructure and technological progress.
‘As a member of the FIDIC Board, I look forward to even greater opportunities for collaboration. I strongly believe in the importance of transparency and professionalism in contracts, especially in a time when rebuilding and development will play such a vital role in Ukraine’s future. It is my hope that we can work together to uphold these principles, fostering an environment of trust, accountability, and fairness in all projects’.
Oleksandr Nepomnyashchyy, ICEG President, highly evaluated the role of international partners in future reconstruction efforts and expressed his readiness to support and facilitate the development of such a partnership in every way.
The Ministry of Infrastructure represented by Nataliia Kozlovska, Deputy Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, as well as the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine represented by Mykola Boiko, First Deputy Head, contributed to the event, noting the important place of the consulting engineer in the country’s market and its prominent role in the reconstruction process of Ukraine.
“The Ministry is doing as much as possible to provide legislative and technical support for Ukraine recovery,” said Nataliia Kozlovska. The implementation of permitting and registration procedures in construction has been simplified, compensation mechanisms for damage and destruction of certain categories of real estate have been launched, internationally recognized forms of construction contracts are being introduced, and DREAM Digital Restoration Ecosystem for Accountable Management is operating. The Ministry is the executive agency under 26 indicators within the Ukraine Facility. The development of programs for the comprehensive recovery of the region and the territory of a territorial community has been initiated.
During the meeting, long-term partners of ICEG, the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine (Lev Partskhaladze) and the Academy of Construction of Ukraine (Anatolii Berkuta), delivered their welcoming speeches.
