Ivano-Frankivsk hosted the XVIII all-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference co-organized by the Interstate Consultants Engineers Guild. The event focused construction pricing, project cost management, and modern approaches to reconstruction.

The conference gathered together experts, researchers, representatives of design companies and construction industry practitioners. The attendees spoke not only about cost estimates or procurements but also about how the very logic of Ukrainian construction projects is changing.

Particular attention was paid to the consulting engineer’s role in the modern recovery system.

During the conference, ICEG’s representative presented a report called “Transformation vectors of the institute of the consulting engineer in Ukraine.” It covered the problems arising during the project implementation, which range from forming the tender dossier to determining the cost of engineering consulting services and risks of engaging the contractors without adequate qualification.

ICEG reiterates that current rebuilding increasingly requires quality construction solutions and professional administration of complex processes including cost control, coordination of stakeholders, and change management at all stages of project implementation.

The speakers also touched upon introduction of FIDIC and EFCA international approaches, development of professional certification, and alignment of the Ukrainian market with requirements of the international financial institutions.

They also presented the Smart Contract Hub KNUCA, a lab established jointly by ICEG and KNUCA. The lab is working on construction digitalization, risk management, contract administration, and training of a new generation of professionals for the engineering service market.

In fact, the today’s construction sector is gradually entering the phase where to simply build a facility is not enough. Reconstruction is a complex system that is giving more and more meaning to the quality of preparation, process management, and ability to work using modern international approaches.
