The Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine held a plenary meeting dedicated to developing the JUPITeR, the Japan-Ukraine Platform for Infrastructure Technology for Reconstruction, and increasing the contribution of Japanese investment and technologies in rebuilding the Ukrainian communities.
The participants discussed possible involvement of Japanese cutting-edge technological solutions in restoring the housing and infrastructure sector in Ukraine, as well as expanding economic cooperation in the context of our European integration.
Main areas of cooperation were outlined:
A particular attention was given to the next heating period and fulfillment of regional resilience plans that include critical infrastructure protection, development of distributed generation, and ensuring uninterrupted functioning of utility systems.
Innovative technologies in reconstruction
During the meeting, the parties agreed to expand cooperation in the field of implementing innovative construction technologies. In particular, they signed a memorandum of intention on using the remote construction technologies that permit speeding up delivery of housing and infrastructure recovery projects, especially in the areas affected by hostilities.
The discussion was joined by representatives of 11 leading Japanese companies that are considering possible participation in the recovery and sharing their technical expertise of rapid infrastructure restoration.
Yurii Prav, ICEG Vice President, points out that the emerging technological solutions and international partnerships launches important opportunities to rebuild housing and infrastructure in Ukraine. Meanwhile, practical implementation needs well prepared designs, clear process organization, and professional coordination at all stages of realization.
Engineering consultancy plays an essential part in the modern reconstruction model, which allows combining the investment, technology, and construction management in a single system. Such an approach helps ensure compliance with international standards, effective use of resources, and long-term resilience of the restored infrastructure.
