ACES: experience of reconstructing facilities damaged during hostilities

April 22, 2022

In a series of online conferences aimed at supporting the Ukrainian market of engineering consulting services during the Russian aggression, our partners, Association of Consulting Engineers of Serbia (ACES), shared their experience of surveying and reconstruction of housing and critical infrastructure facilities, which is extremely relevant and important for Ukraine right now.

The meeting was attended by Branislav Simovic, member of ACES managing board, and Vesna Prodanovic, member of ACES managing board, certified project manager.

Over 20 years ago, Serbian engineers and builders solved problems of inspecting and reconstructing buildings and structures that suffered destruction during the armed conflict in former Yugoslavia. Specific complex damages caused by hostilities require a special approach. Thus our colleagues expressed readiness to share their methodology of inspecting the buildings and relevant Serbian legislation that can be used practically and to improve the documents recently adopted in Ukraine.

On our part, we suggested establishing contacts with experienced Serbian experts and review possible informational support to Ukrainian examiners of buildings and structures in the form of online trainings or roundtables in e.g. Zoom platform on both the general situation and specific examples of infrastructure facilities.
